Chocolate: The real and the raw

What is Raw Chocolate?

This is a wonderful company run by Casey Pringle that specialises in, you guessed it, raw chocolate. All of the products produced by the company are handmade with only the finest quality organic ingredients. There are the classic flavours along with some ones that will surprise you, such as pink salt, wild orange and date and cayenne.

Only sustainable processes are used, and no refined sugar. Instead, the chocolate is sweetened with coconut nectar. It is also entirely vegan, containing no dairy or soy, is low GI and gluten free.

As a product of Australia, the chocolate is made in the Macedon Ranges, which is a region in Victoria, just out of Melbourne. You'll find deliciously raw blocks to buy from local farmers markets, including those at Woodend, Kyneton and Lancefield.

The chocolate can also be found at Ethic, which is a store in Woodend that stocks organic wholefoods, cleaning products, gifts and more. There is also a cafe and place for your kids to play in store.

What are some extra touches?

Maintaining the same aesthetic throughout, the chocolate boxes are simple, effortlessly cool and chic. The word 'Raw' dominates the cover, big and bold in vibrant red. The name of the product is on one edge in loopy cursive, while 'chocolate' is on the other.

On the back is all the information you could possibly need about the product. First, there are a series of comments about what makes this chocolate special, for instance, the first line reads "I'm raw and handmade, using organic ingredients." There is also the usual ingredients list and nutrition information - which only proves sweet treats can be good for you!

The black details on these boxes were printed by PrintTogether on 366gsm Boxboard which is a 100 per cent recycled, raw unbleached board, using vegetable based inks. They were then passed on to Subgreen Design to screen print the bright red RAW on the front, before being returned to us to die-cut and assemble the box. Screen printing was used to give a thick raw and strong element to the packaging.
