2 recycled postcards for Cone 11

Cone 11, found in Melbourne's trendy and creative Abbotsford, creates exquisite pieces of tableware, sculpture and lighting. As often functional as they are beautiful, these objects are quickly becoming objects du jour for any home.

The company has only been around since 2008, but in that time has carved out its niche market in Melbourne's competitive design space. The team is comprised of two talented artists, Ilona Topolcsanyi and Colin Hopkins. Ilona is a ceramic artist extraordinaire, bringing her extensive experience and skills to the design table through the manipulation of clay. Colin specialises in the creation of unique lighting solutions. Working with ceramics, Colin has his own brand of crafted lights, called PORCELUME. Each piece makes the most of functional design and the translucent beauty of ceramic materials.

Together, the duo draws from a natural colour palette of opulent whites through to burnt terracottas, and gives each piece their own unique signature mark.

To gain a little further traction for their work, Cone 11 got together with PrintTogether to create two recycled postcards featuring iconic images of their pieces.

Cone 11 Postcard

The first postcard is a high angle shot of a collection of tableware. Interestingly, unlike most product images that would approach the subject from the side, this image takes a different approach and instead shows off the colours and simplicity of the designs. This highlights what makes these items different to your usual bowls and jugs - the eye-catching colour, smooth lines and simple functionality. These pieces are arranged on a wooden crate and well lit from the side. The use of light further accentuates the shape of the products and the Cone 11 logo takes this one step further by reflecting aspects of the card.

Cone 11 Postcard

In the second postcard, a close up shot of two hands crafting clay gives a totally different perspective on Cone 11. Rather than focusing on the final, clean product, this card gives a realistic idea of the creation process, alluding to the raw, handcrafted side of the business. Lighting is important again, and shines directly on the clay. The logo takes the terracotta colour palette from the first postcard and complements the natural grey tones of the second perfectly.

Each card uses vegetable based inks on 350gsm EcoStar recycled paper.
