Clean green printing for lively 'Pop Plant' labels

Pop Plant Label

If you live amongst the hustle and bustle of the Melbourne CBD, you'll probably be craving some greenery in your surroundings. Well, this is what Andy Walker and Gabriela Holland were yearning for when they filled their small inner city Melbourne apartment with various indoor plant life.

Their home then became a haven for a variety of plants, brightening their living space and making them "happier and healthier". They also began creating their own planters by toying around with materials such as poly-felt (made from recycled plastic), ply and concrete.

From here the idea of setting up their business, Pop Plant, was born with the partners deciding to help other city dwellers improve their quality of life. So off Andy and Gabriela went to Melbourne's design markets to sell off their plants and planters.

Some of Pop Plants handcrafted products include concrete pots (coffee cup pot, straight, curved), poly-felt planters (balcony sack, multipurpose pot cover/planter), and trendy string gardens (poly-felt string garden, hanging string garden DIY kit).

Pop Plant has also been involved in a number of projects including plant installations for Country Road Swim Store, the Frankie Runway at Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) 2014 and Golden Age Cinema in Surry Hills.

The greenery doesn't stop there for Pop Plant, however, with the business opting for environmentally friendly printing for their fun and lively-looking care instructions. These labels are a breath of fresh air compared to their plainer contemporaries, featuring a fresh green polka dot background and fun icons.

The care instructions were printed as 105mm x 75mm product labels onto 100 per cent post-consumer recycled 350gsm EcoStar paper. Vegetable based inks were also used, further supporting their clean green printing approach.
