Artist Belinda Marshall plays with patterns influenced by the urban world

Melbourne is home to many vivid and innovative artists with a range of styles and eclectic tastes. Belinda Marshall is one such artist. She works with a range of mediums, primarily acrylic paint, graphite, hand stitching and collage.

Belinda grew up in a picturesque country landscape and she has stated this is something she has always felt connected to. As she has grown, her work has sought to express the beauty of the world around her, whether that is natural beauty, or more often now, urban beauty.

Her work is ultimately positive - she focuses on what captures her attention and seeks to convey an idyllic world and a calming space. It's also distinctly personal. She shares her own individual point of view that is constantly shifting and changing.

These emotional reactions to her environment are captured in bold layering of colours that are tonally compatible. Big sections of abstract colour play with each other in a loose and unstructured pattern.

Her work allows the medium and her materials to play a part, with some pieces displaying drips and others with colours bleeding into each other.

Belinda Marshall gift cards

Gift cards displaying her work have been created with clean green printing. They have been printed digitally on 300gsm EcoStar, 100 per cent recycled paper and depict some of her latest works.

These works have a colour theme made up of calming colours such as shades of pink and blue, and show her bold and carefree style. Splotches of paint overlap into each other, blending and merging to create an organic pattern. The work has an effortless feel and shows the urban influence.

Belinda uses social media to share her art, so you can find her on Facebook, Instragram and Twitter, or on her website at: belindamarshall.com
