New swing tags for Spacecraft

Walk into Melbourne's Spacecraft Studio and you'll get an idea of the authentic feel of the products coming out of this workshop. Stop by the Fitzroy store and you'll see the products laid out in a beautiful, artistic display. 

Spacecraft is a small studio focusing on all things handmade, with artists splitting their time evenly between design and art projects. With an ethos of 'buy better, buy less', Spacecraft makes quality items - exceptionally well. They can print on almost any surface, including fabrics, concrete, wood, paper and glass with their own screens, and they create their own colours by mixing pigments with a variety of water-based mediums. 

A main focus of the studio, and all the artists who operate in it, is a commitment to the environment. Owner Stewart Russell uses pigment printing, which helps to keep the amount of water required in production to a minimum. Another entrepreneurial feature is the use of roof planes to catch water, which will soon be up and running to collect this valuable resource that is used so often in the printing and cleaning process. Stewart takes a practical approach to how all the works will physically be created, mindful of the environmental impact of the production. 

When it came time to produce swing tags for these products, environmentally minded PrintTogether was a perfect fit. Printed on 366gsm recycled boxboard with vegetable based inks, these tags make the most of the space available on each sheet, with 24 tags per page.

The design is very modern with no frills to distract the eye from the pure one-colour Pantone black ink logo on one side, with a short blurb on the other.

The typeface is a simple LCD style for the logo, alluding to the modern techniques and capabilities of the Spacecraft studio.
