This bakery has made bread baking a real art form. The artisan loaves are created by skilled craftsmen, namely the owners and father/son team, John and Tony Dench.

Since humble beginnings in February 2005, the bakery now provides many cafes and restaurants. It specialises in hand-made organic sourdough and carefully created cakes, all at top quality. The date and almond torte, chocolate and pistachio nougat and perfect pink meringues are other tasty treats this bakery produces.

If you want to talk to some of the bakers and choose from the mouth-watering range, head to the Melbourne farmers' markets. You'll find the bakers and their bread at markets around Victoria, including Essendon, Collingwood Childrens' Farm, Park Orchards and Thornbury.

There is also a cafe in Fitzroy North that combines the breads and cakes with a range of other meals. With dishes such as bircher muesli with raspberry and pistachio crumble and orange blossom syrup, you can rest assured what ever you choose will be totally flavoursome and satisfy your hunger.

While you eat you can also enjoy the works of a featured artist. Currently the life-affirming works of Lucia Ondrusova are on display.

Working together with PrintTogether

Recently Dench Bakery and PrintTogether have joined forces to create a new line of recycled business cards. The front of the business card has the bakery logo, the name and the sub-heading 'artisan sourdoughs, while the back has the individual's name and contact details.

The colours of the cards represent the brand - with golden yellow and rich brown conveying that sense of rustic charm, earthy goodness and honesty. The swooping background detailing is fluid and natural, much like the process of creating the breads.

Each card has been beautifully rendered with environmentally friendly printing materials. Along with the 100 per cent recycled 350gsm EcoStar card, vegetable based inks have been used.
